Urbanization has hit Indian cities rapidly, and due to the stressful city lifestyle and shrinking green spaces, having a free day to relax is truly a blessing. I’d like to talk about one such free day I had recently. It was a Sunday when I didn’t have any classes or assignments to complete. I was completely free, and I wanted to use the time to unwind and do something refreshing.

I woke up early that morning and decided to go for a run in the large green park situated in the middle of our society. After a good half-hour run, I sat on a bench to rest and enjoy the calm atmosphere. Suddenly, I heard a loud, cheerful noise. Curious, I turned around and saw a group of elderly people laughing heartily. I quickly remembered that this group forms the laughter club of our society. Intrigued, I walked over to them and asked if I could join.

Although they were initially surprised to see a youngster wanting to join, the group welcomed me warmly. They introduced me to their routine and guided me through the laughter therapy session. I followed their every move, laughing and pausing with them. After the session, they invited me to have snacks with them. During that time, we had friendly conversations and they shared some amazing life stories.

This day was truly memorable and enjoyable for several reasons. First, the laughter therapy itself was incredibly refreshing and filled me with positive energy. Second, being in the company of older, more experienced people was enlightening. One of them was a retired engineer, and when I told him I aspired to become an engineer too, he shared valuable insights about the field. His advice helped clear many doubts I had about my future. That day gave me joy, wisdom, and a deep sense of connection, making it one of the most fulfilling days I’ve ever had.
