A Waiter is Required For Evening Work IELTS General Letter Writing Task 1

Applying for a job requires a well-structured and professional letter. In A Waiter is Required For Evening Work IELTS General Letter, you need to express your interest in the position, highlight relevant skills, and explain why you are a suitable candidate. A clear and polite tone will enhance your chances of making a positive impression.

You should spend about 20 minutes on this task.

A restaurant has advertised in a newspaper that a waiter/waitress is required for evening work. It has also mentioned that the prospective candidate should have some experience.
Write a letter to Logan Bennett describing your previous experience and explaining why you would be suitable for the job.

  • say which points in the article you agree with
  • explain ways in which your town centre is different from most other town centres
  • offer to give a guided tour of your town to the writer of the article

Write at least 150 words. You do NOT need to write any addresses.
Begin your letter as follows:

Dear Sir or Madam,

You Have Just Read An Article In a National Newspaper

Dear Logan Bennett,

I recently came across an advertisement in a local newspaper, in which you have sought a qualified waiter or waitress to work for your restaurant during the evening shift. I would try to avail this opportunity since I have some solid working experience in the same field, and I feel passionate about working in this position.

To give details about my experience, I have worked as a part-time waiter at one of the busiest restaurants in our town, while attending my high school, where I used to serve more than a hundred customers, pretty much, on a regular basis. Apart from that, I also have experience working at a residential hotel as a guest service executive for almost a year where I learned how to serve customers with great patience under some trying circumstances. I am energetic, and I love to work with people. Finally, I also have a diploma in Business Administration with a good GPA.

So, based on the experiences that I have already gathered, along with my business degree, I think that I should be able to handle the pressure of being a waiter, no matter what shift you would want me to work for.
I hope to meet you in a formal interview and discuss this further.

Yours sincerely,
Casey Blake
