In my country, the population has been growing at a steady rate. More individuals mean more facilities are required for their survival, especially housing spaces. This increasing demand for residential areas has caused a significant decline in green zones. While the cutting down of trees has been widespread, there is one plant that has recently gained huge popularity and people have started planting it in their backyard gardens—the kiwi fruit plant.

A few years ago, not many people had even heard of kiwi fruit. But it suddenly shot to fame when its medicinal properties, particularly its ability to fight dengue, were discovered. Every year, during the months of September and October, dengue fever spreads in certain parts of my country and becomes almost epidemic in nature. This happens because the weather during that time supports the breeding of mosquitoes. Even though the government and people take precautions, the disease still spreads significantly.

One of the most dangerous effects of dengue is that it lowers the count of white blood cells in the patient’s body, weakening the immune system and making them prone to severe infections. This is where kiwi fruit has proved to be highly effective. It has been scientifically proven that the consumption of kiwi helps the body regenerate white blood cells and boosts the immune system. That’s why it is considered a lifesaver for dengue patients. Doctors also recommend it immediately after diagnosis.

Moreover, kiwi has other health benefits too. It is rich in dietary fiber, which helps improve the digestive system. The best part is that the kiwi plant is easy to grow and doesn’t require special care, which is why it’s becoming a household plant in many parts of the country. For all these reasons, the kiwi plant has become an important and useful addition to our environment and daily lives.
