Some people believe that sport is an essential part IELTS Essay – Model Answer 1
Sport continues to be a controversial topic in the school curriculum, just as sport itself has become a controversial industry in some respects. There are valid opinions on both sides, which I will consider now.
On the one hand, some people feel that sport uses up time which could be better spent on academic subjects such as exam preparation. In addition, it might be said that it is unwise to force children to do activities which they have no interest in. After all, some youngsters are just not sporty, and should be allowed to study instead. Finally, there are question marks over the wholesomeness of sport itself, with drugging and corruption scandals increasingly common, as we see in cycling at present. Some people believe that this lack of morals sets a poor example to young people.
On the other hand, though, one major benefit of sport is that it helps children’s physical development at an important stage. If all their time was spent studying, they would become unfit and their minds would eventually suffer. Furthermore, supporters of school sport emphasize the importance of team building in sports such as football or hockey, which is often felt to be an excellent preparation for adulthood. Finally, many people feel that a competitive spirit, so important today, is fostered by sports at an early age. It is notable, for example, that many successful business people excelled in sport at school.
Overall, I feel that sport should be compulsory for school children, because the positive effect on their mental and physical development outweighs the negatives. This is as long as children are given a wide range to choose from, to ensure their interest is high, and that the sports industry itself maintains the highest standards of conduct.
Sport is an Essential Part IELTS Essay – Model Answer 2
Sports is a leisure activity where some people enjoy spending time with friends and families and some they considered a nonproductive activity instead of spending on an important task. There are valid opinions on both sides, which I consider now.
On the other hand, some people like to spend more time on academics especially to prepare for the upcoming exams. With that, time well-spent on improving such grade. Another reason is some children do not like the sports activity itself. For example, part of the curriculum is to learn how to play volleyball. Students who are physique may enjoy playing this game because they may dominate and win easily over to those who aren’t. As a result, these children may lose their confidence and may feel helpless which leads to the dislike of the activity. Finally, some children prefer to engage in sport may not require to be physically active but more on a mental strategy which they may excel.
On the other hand, the benefits of these sports activities are highly suggested by healthcare experts which helps their brain development involving movements and critical thinking decisions on how to perform and win in sports. Socialization is also another benefit for this activity wherein interactions among members of the team and promotes teamwork. This could lead to a positive attitude development of the students towards society. As a result, people who engage in sports will promote a habit that leads to a well – balanced life.
In my opinion, sports for children is very important for the development of the physical, mental, social, and environmental aspect of life. This outweighs the negative point of view of some people. Such activities should be a wide range of sports and giving them the freedom to chose what sports they like to engage in.
Sports Discussion Opinion IELTS Essay – Model Answer 3
In most education systems around the world, physical education is one of the components of the syllabus. However, this is a controversial topic, as it has been argued that sport as a school subject is unnecessary. Opposing this is the view that physical education is a vital aspect of the education.
Physical education was introduced into schools to promote a healthy lifestyle by exposing students to different types of sport and ensuring that those who are not naturally sporty are exposed to exercise and its benefits. For students who are already very active, having a sports lesson might be unnecessary, but those who are not given the opportunities or who are not from active families depend on schools for exercise. Furthermore, a school is supposed to educate on multiple levels, a key aspect of which is healthy living. It is not sufficient to discuss exercise in class; students must experience the effects that ensue. One of these benefits is that exercise enables people to concentrate more efficiently and work more efficiently, meaning that having sport as a subject is beneficial to other subjects as well.
On the other hand, exercise to some degree is a personal matter and forcing students to exercise in class can then have the opposite effect. This feeling can lead to students not pursuing any sports later due to negative experiences and memories connected to it. Another argument is that exercise is a leisure activity and therefore not school-related and should be practiced outside of school.
In conclusion, while negative results can be caused through physical education, it is vital for students to take part in it. Some students are only exposed to a healthy lifestyle in schools and therefore there is a responsibility to educate individuals in this area.
IELTS Writing Task 2 Sports Topic – Model Essay 4
Sports started out as a leisure activity and there are a lot of different sports played and enjoyed throughout the world. However, the topic of sports has become a controversial one in modern times. This has had a conflicting impact on the young generation.
People all over have a very confused and erratic mindset when it comes to sports. On one side, there are people who think that sports are highly necessary in the school curriculum, while some people oppose this idea. Many people have disregarded the importance of sports for a long time. They understand and present sports as a menace in school life. They are in favour of keeping sports as an optional activity, as it would redirect the focus of children towards academics. This, as per them, is more practical and would result in a more intellectually developed pupil. I personally do not believe in this notion and feel that it is incorrect.
There are many schools that spend a proper budget on sports facilities and make them optional. They say that if a child wants to succeed, they should focus on academics and sports as well. Sports are important as they have helped many people inculcate better ideologies and develop their lifestyles for the better.
In my view, sports have various multi-faceted benefits and develop a school going child in many aspects. A child can be physically stronger with more balanced health by playing sports. Different sports have been proven to help children imbibe life skills and develop and polish their personality. One can learn many virtues from sports, such as teamwork, leadership skill, time management, sportsmanship, handling pressure, commitment, and responsibility, to name a few.
I opine that sports should become a part of the school curriculum so that the students could benefit from the vast amount of positive effects from them.
